Police outfoxed for hours by rogue moose on the loose

On the run... The moose makes its escape while a police officer chases after it in Lublin, Poland

It wasn’t the usual emergency call that police receive on a daily basis.

But when they were told there was a moose on the loose, they sprang into action.

However, the mammal managed to outfox them for hours after it escaped and went wild in Lublin, Poland, yesterday.

Gotcha! The moose is finally caught hours after it escaped

First, it made a trip to the city centre – where it was spotted by surprised shoppers.

Then it gave officers the runaround in a car park, thrashing in puddles as they tried to capture it with a free-running snare - a wire loop that relaxes when the animal stops pulling.

The moose was finally caught and put to sleep before being taken to a vet
