Dog's life: Sean Cole and Gizmo with the specially-adapted carry box which he attached to his Kawasaki motorbike
Dial for a pizza in Plymouth and you might get more than you bargained for - because delivery rider Sean Cole has installed a 'doggie box' on the back of his motorbike.
The 43-year-old takes his pet Gizmo out with him on jobs because the Coton de Tulear dog would bark constantly when home alone.
Ingenious Mr Cole attached the perspex container to the back of his Kawasaki bike complete with air holes and fan to keep the one-year-old cool.
He said: 'Gizmo enjoys travelling and gets to see more of a view than he would in the car.
'I came up with the idea because I didn't want to leave Gizmo at home on his own. He's a lap dog and barks if he you leave him.
'He's travelled in the car since he was a puppy so I thought he would enjoy being on the bike.
'I had a luggage box for the bike and basically cut it in half before using perspex panels to build a box.
'This is only the first version but the general consensus is that it is a great idea. I've added a ventilation fan for when its a hot day and we are stuck in traffic.
Pizza pair: The duo travel together when Sean delivers pizzas to the people of Plymouth
'When we are driving along I can see his ears and fur flapping in my mirrors so I know he has plenty of air.
'When we get to where we are going he gets out and wanders around before going back in the box home. He's a very happy little dog and he loves cruising round in his box.'
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said the box complied with highways laws.
