American bobtail is an unusual breed of cat. This breed was found in early 1960’s. American bobtail was found by breeding male brown tabby cat and a Siamese female cat. So once the bred was successful, the outcome was a small bob tailed cat called an American Bobtail. Since this breed cat’s tail is short it got the name as Bobtail. Usually they are medium in size and sometimes also large American Bobtail cats are seen.
Some bobtails either have short or long hair. American Bobtail cats are usually recommended for home pets. American bobtail mingles well with everyone and does not create nonsense behavior. Generally for American Bobtail cats a friend kind of breed can be left. Like either a cat or a dog. This helps in improving the activities of the cat. Because of some company they will be busy and will never become tired for the whole day.

This breed development was started in the year 1960 where an American couple on an American Indian reservation saw a Siamese female cat giving birth to a bobtail cat which they found to be extraordinary because of the mating of a tabby cat with this Siamese cat. And the bobtail cat gave a good impression for them being active and beautiful too. Therefore they decided to give this as an idea to the cat association.
