Enough to make a cat laugh...the Frankfurt Animal Lounge aims to please discerning pets
Precious pooches and fussy felines will now be able to enjoy all the perks that their human counterparts can at Frankfurt Airport if they are travelling with Lufthansa Airlines.
Flying first class is a luxury that few of us can afford but for those who can, there's now a chance to extend the high life to one's pets.
Animals can already have passports to travel with their owners and now they have been given a dedicated first-class lounge where they can relax before their flight.
'I'd like a bellini and your finest rare steak please...' Pets at Frankfurt can swap the ruff for the smooth in their dedicated pet lounge
The lounge is designed to offer state-of-the-art care and all the mod cons a discerning animal - from polar bears to tropical fish - might need.
Small animals will have their own boxes in the lounge while larger, exotic creatures are transported in the climate-controlled and pressurised cargo hold.
'Our animal lounge provides individual care, professional expertise and an environment designed to ensure ultimate comfort for 14,000 household pets and 1,500 horses and wild animals annually,' said Lufthansa general manager Kai Peters.
If a transfer or layover exceeds more than two to three hours, animals will be sent to the animal lounge where they can await their flight.
Vets will be on hand to ensure animals are healthy enough to continue their journey and deal with any problems.
They have already helped make the journey of one pet more comfortable - a pregnant dog.
'About thirty minutes before the plane landed, the dog started giving birth to several puppies,' said Mr Peters.
'A veterinarian from the animal lounge was called to the aircraft upon landing and the little puppies were safely delivered.'
