Feeling lost: Jorge Garcia with his dog Nunu who died on Sunday
Lost actor Jorge Garcia has been left devastated by the death of his pet dog Nunu.
The tiny Chihuahua-Daschund mix died after being hit by a car on Sunday in Hawaii where Jorge, who plays Hurley in the hit US TV series, lives.
The treasured animal died in his arms, said the star.
Writing on his blog, he said: ‘It breaks my heart to tell you that yesterday as we were preparing to all go to the airport Nunu was struck by a car as she crossed the street.
'She died in my arms.
‘We are burying her in the Pet Garden at Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe. Nunu hated the water.
‘So we couldn't bring ourselves to having her ashes scattered in the ocean.
‘Three months from now you'll be able to find a bronze plaque inscribed with just her name there. If you'd like to leave a flower or a toy, I'm sure she'd love it.
‘We love and miss her very much.’
Little Nunu was much loved by the Lost star
Heavyweight Jorge, 36, and little Nunu cut an odd figure while out together on the Pacific island taking walks.
But there was no questioning their devotion for each other, say friends.
Jorge picked out Nunu when he was just a puppy from a pet store in 2005.
The 36-year-old would often write about the canine’s adventures on his popular blog, posting photos of his black-and-brown pup chewing on toys, sheets, and sometimes even his owner’s nose.
Jorge, a former stand-up comedian, is a favourite among fans of Lost who watched the last ever episode screen last week.
His character Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes often brought a touch of light relief to the award-winning series.
