
Eight years ago, he was underweight, undernourished and unhappy.
When Willy the polar bear was rescued from a travelling circus, he was living in a cramped cage and fed a diet of only vegetables.
But now the 8ft 6in bear has regained his health - and rediscovered his sense of humour.

The playful 25-year-old uses the toys in his personal 115,000-gallon pool to entertain onlookers at North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro.
In this shot, he pops one on his head as a makeshift swimming cap. Zoo spokesman Rod Hackney said: 'Willy's life is 100 per cent better than it used to be. We have given this captive bear something as close as possible to his natural environment.'
